Statement Piece Gem Silica Chrysocolla Sagenite Malachite Arabesque Teal Blue Pendant Beaded Necklace Wire Wrapped Pendant Copper Jewelry

The Gem Silica Chrysocolla and Malachite gemstone cabochon in this handmade statement piece necklace is another one of those that I counted myself lucky to find. Pictures do it no justice. The range of blues form neon to dark teal and the blend of green are deeply saturated and vivid. Depending on the light, this stone varies between bright and dark. The translucent neon gem silica is full of sagenite, so, in the sunlight (my pictures are taken with diffused daylight bulbs) the blue section is stunning, especially against the equally beautiful malachite.

This is a big stone, 51 x abt 26mm, and needed a secure setting and a special one to reflect what a special stone it is. The cut is just as beautiful as the stone. It is a modified flame cut, one of my favorites.

I designed this setting, just for this beauty.

I used copper for the setting and gave it a warm glowing antique finish. I hoped to emphasize the curves in the stone and ended up with something arabesque or Moroccan looking. I named this "Blue Flame".

I wanted to make a necklace for this that would bring out the metal and to stand up to the brilliant colors of the stone, so I used some hex cut, Czech beads in bronze and copper colors. It is very strong and supple and holds the pendant securely. The ends are finished with copper wire guards to protect the necklace and a strong lobsterclaw clasp.

The pendant can be removed from the necklace and has a 6.5mm bail.

This handmade and artisan crafted statement piece is 3 1/8" (7.8cm) long.

The necklace is 19 1/2" (49.5cm) long with a twisted herringbone weave.
